Shown on 1896 1:2500 OS map, still on 1913 1:2500 OS map - not clear exactly which building but terrace is of 6 buildings/shops

- A fire station opened in 1888 in a shop in Hendon Lane and later in adjoining shops. The local board had a fire committee by 1889 but decided against a new station on grounds of expense.

- A volunteer FB was formed here in 1866. P182 gives address as Church End
